New Delhi, Nov 11: The row over Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati is getting murkier as the day of release of the film draws close.Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subaramanian Swamy has now pointed to a possibility of there being an ‘international conspiracy’ in the way facts have been portrayed in the film starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
We must see if there is international conspiracy in it, Dubai’s people want Muslim kings to be shown as heroes,” Swamy said while speaking on the portrayal of Alauddin Khilji in the film Padmavati. He also added that his claim that “Aamir Khan’s PK was promoted by Pakistan proved right.”
Padmavati, which is slated to release on December 1, has triggered a massive controversy with various Rajput groups, including the Karni Sena, threatening to disrupt the screening of the movie, accusing Bhansali of “distorting” historical facts.
There have been several petitions against the release of the film in the Supreme Court and high courts. However, the Supreme Court has refused to entertain a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) demanding a stay on releaseof Padmavati. The top court suggested that the censor board should take an independent view over the issue. The court added that it can’t substitute role of CBFC as the movie is yet to be certified.
